Genital warts, as they are most commonly known, are technically termed HPV, the Human Papilloma Virus, and are thought to be the herpes virus by many people. This is not true.
The human papilloma virus and herpes are two different kinds of infection, although they are both sexually transmitted diseases. Genital warts are also known by the names condylomata acuminate or venereal warts. Genital warts are passed via the route of the skin and careful handwashing is an absolute necessity lest you can transfer the virus to other parts of the body.
